About Koral Ilgun
I was born in Turkey. In 1990, I moved to Santa Barbara to further my education in Computer Engineering. I received my MS degree in Computer Science from UCSB in 1992.
Shortly after my graduation, I met my soul-mate Suzanne and five years later we got married in Fiji (we picked a place about half-way in between Turkey and the US). We visited the Expanding Light Retreat for the first time at the end of 1999 for the Millenium Retreat (which doesn’t come around very often).
Falling in love with the people, the teachings, and the community, we packed up our belongings and moved to Ananda Village in March of 2002.
I continue to work remotely as a Software Engineer for Occam Networks in Santa Barbara, while my wife works for Ananda Church of Self-Realization as its Director of Human Resources. One of the many blessings of living in the Ananda Village for me has been to start singing with the Ananda Singers. The beauty and inspiration of Swami Kriyananda’s music amplifies many times when one starts singing it (especially with an experienced group of singers and a very talented choir director) compared to just listening to it. I also enjoy helping with the audio/video recording of various events at Ananda Village as well as maintaining Ananda Bell’s DSL service.
