About Nayaswami Maitreyi
Nayaswami Maitreyi and Tyagi husband Michael moved from their life in UK to Ananda’s Kriya Yogashram, Pune, India in September 2011, and took renunciate vows shortly after. Meeting Swami Kriyananda was the pivotal point in Maitreyi and her husband’s life, after which the decision to remove themselves from all they knew.
An Ananda member since 2008, Maitreyi has dedicated her life to the service of others, in the form of channeled healing, spiritual writing, and anything else Guru sends her way within the community.
Maitreyi, wife, mother, and grandmother, trained as a registered nurse in the UK. These life skills are all tested in the new and pioneering community in India. Her daughter Nicola and son-in law Ben are both budding Kriyabans.
As an author, encouraged greatly by Swami Kriyananda, Maitreyi published her first book, Touching Soul, by Crystal Clarity, in 2010. A book of devotional poetry and a testimonial in part two to her early years on the spiritual path. How her Guru manifested after a heartfelt plea for help is described in her poem, The Unknown Face. Since then she has written another book of poems, also portraying her life after taking Kriya initiation, Tears Before Dawn: Life After Kriya, which is awaiting publication. Maitreyi is also writing a journal on practicing the presence of God. Clarity magazine has published two edited articles from this journal.
