I met Swami Kriyananda in the fall of 1970 and moved to Ananda around the Christmas of 1973. Over the years I listened attentively to many of Swami’s talks and became familiar with many of his stories and illustrations. Some time in the early 90’s I got an opportunity to read unpublished notes of classes Paramhansa Yogananda gave, fifty years before, on the yoga aphorisms of Patanjali. I was interested to find how many times the illustrations and stories of Yogananda were already familiar to me from Swami’s talks. I thought, “I knew that Swami was giving us Yogananda’s teachings, but I didn’t realize how often they were in Yogananda’s words.”
