Crystal Hermitage Guest House

Secluded, and with stunnning views, this two-bedroom, one bath Crystal Hermitage Guest House is located on a mountain bluff overlooking the scenic Yuba River Canyon near the Tahoe National Forest 15 miles outside of Nevada City, CA.

For many years, Crystal Hermitage has been a place for daily prayer, meditation, and devotion. The guest house is located on the bluffs at Ananda Village, America’s premier yoga and meditation community. A short walk from the guest house is the main Crystal Hermitage grounds, with terraced gardens, majestic forests and dramatic views of the mountains and canyons. From your living room at the Guest House, gaze out into spacious skies and down hundreds of feet to the canyon below where the Yuba River flows.

The Guest House is the perfect getaway for a quiet retreat, seclusion, vacation, or a honeymoon. The house is a two-story mountain chalet-style with two bedrooms (one with a queen bed downstairs; one with a trundle bed upstairs) plus a fold-out couch with double bed in the living room. A fully-equipped kitchen and dining area plus living room with a gas fireplace is located on the upper floor. A full meditation room is located next to the downstairs bedroom.

The Crystal Hermitage Chapel, ideal for weddings and baptisms, is located at the Crystal Hermitage as well. This lovely stone chapel, based on the Porziuncola, The Little Church of St. Francis of Assisi, offers an intimate and deeply inspiring atmosphere for wedding ceremonies. The Crystal Hermitage is surrounded by spectacular gardens. The upper garden is available for you to meditate in and absorb the natural beauty around you. You are welcome to come and enjoy them during your stay at the Guest House or any visit to Ananda Village. We also invite you to visit our gift shop, the Shrine of the Masters.

To provide the perfect mountain retreat experience, the Guest House does not have television or VCR. A radio and CD player is available for your use.

The Crystal Hermitage Guest House is a non-smoking facility, and we do ask that you not bring alcohol. For your retreat enjoyment, we can arrange for the following:

Weddings at the Crystal Hermitage Chapel
Massage (either at the Guest House or the nearby Center for Radiant Health)
Yoga classes at The Expanding Light retreat, located 10 minutes from the Guest House
Meditation training
Master’s Market and Deli (located 10 minutes away in downtown Ananda Village, a total vegetarian/natural foods market, bakery and deli
Hiking within Ananda Village, along the Yuba River and in forested areas
Information for shopping/dining/sightseeing in nearby historical Nevada City
Swimming spots in nearby Yuba River
Free tours of Ananda Village on Sundays, leaving from The Expanding Light

Our standard rate is $117 per night for double occupancy, and $10 for each additional person. No pets please. Member discounts are available.

Guests staying at Crystal Hermitage are most welcome to participate in the activities at The Expanding Light. In order to do so, please call The Expanding Light and register for classes as a “Day Guest”. Ask about the fees for this participation at 1-800-346-5350.
