Question
Hi, I learned Kriya thru SRF lessons many years ago.I know it works. I sort of dropped off the path for a while and I am having trouble getting reconnected. I am currently having financial and marital problems and my mind is becoming quite agitated at times.I may be facing forleclosure soon and possibly a divorce!.Everything I do seems to turn out wrong (God knows I’ve been trying)it is sort of like Murhy’s law.Do you think that God is punishing me for the time that I dropped off the path. AUM
Answer
It’s very important on the spiritual path to have a clear understanding of our relationship with God. In traditional Western religious belief, God is thought of as a strict task-master who gives us difficult assignments that we usually don’t complete very well, or even at all. Then we incur God’s wrath.
In the teachings of the East, and certainly in Yogananda’s path, God is envisioned as a beneficent, loving guide who is offering us tools, techniques, and understanding for our own greater happiness. If we don’t use the tools we’ve been offered (such as Kriya), then it just takes us longer to wake up from delusion. God doesn’t punish us, but we suffer because we are trapped in a delusionary state.
Our suffering is due to past bad karma that we have previously set into motion. Don’t blame God, and don’t blame yourself either. Try to see the opportunity for inner growth in every test. The more we try to align our consciousness with God through meditation and Kriya, the easier it is to rise above the karmic tests that come to all of us until we are finally free.
