One of my spiritual friends has seen with open eyes, pre-meditation period, a pink lotus coming down from the sky and had entered in to his crown. What does this signify?

Dear Amar,
In general, the lotus signifies enlightenment, the long journey up from the mud of our subconscious origins into the clear skies of superconsciousness. The crown chakra is the highest center of spiritual awareness in the body, and as you are no doubt aware, it is often referred to as the thousand-petaled lotus.
But that is symbolic; it doesn’t necessarily mean that your friend has achieved enlightenment. Seeing a lotus flower in meditation does suggest, however, a possibly important step of spiritual unfoldment for your friend. Perhaps it occurred at the time he saw the lotus, or perhaps it will occur in the near future.
In any case, seeing something like this is a positive sign, and it should be treated as a gift from God, without any attachment to it or expectation that it will (or should) happen again. Other people—even those who are more advanced than your friend, spiritually—might never have such an experience. Everyone’s path is unique. As Paramhansa Yogananda put it, “What comes of itself, let it come.”
