Being Steadfast on the Spiritual Path

Question

I’ve asked many questions in the past, but believe this will be my last one. Krishna appeared in my heart as I went breathless one day, but I became lost, forgetful and worldly months after. I’ve felt myself slowly change, I think I’ve only hurt myself, with a numbness of heart. I actually kind of feel closer to God now because I feel so broken inside, but before I guess I was more like a child. Does everyone experience the afterlife, will mine maybe be darker now and without the people I love?

Answer

Dear Mike,

You have experienced God, in the form of Krishna. This is a great blessing. God is always waiting for us to come back to Him—no matter how far we have strayed away from Him.

We all have times when we lose inspiration or direction, but instead of dwelling on what has gone wrong, go back and start meditating again. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita: “Even a little practice of meditation will free one from dire fears and colossal suffering.” Pray sincerely to God to help you. Listen for His answer in your meditation as well as during outward activity. When you seek God and act in dharmic ways, to the best of your ability, things will get better.

Parmahansa Yogananda’s guru said: “Everything in the future will improve, if you are making a spiritual effort now.”

Blessings to you,

Diksha
