Thank you for sharing your beautiful experience with Swami Kriyananda. Many people experience blessings flowing from him, though I have not heard one specifically like what you describe.

I cannot say exactly what your experience means. But I think God sends blessings like these to get our attention. It’s best not to ignore them.

I have seen devotees who wanted to become Swami Kriyananada’s disciples. But he has always answered: "I am not the guru. You are all Yogananda’s disciples." He has never claimed to be perfect, or perfectly enlightened. He simply is a highly advanced soul, a teacher, an inspiration, an example for many of us. Mostly I think he feels himself to be a divine friend and guide. We ask him questions and look at him as a true example of discipleship.

Your question actually has two parts and therefore needs two answers. First, has Swami Kriyananda found liberation? There are different stages of liberation. In the jivan muktan state, you have advanced to the stage where you acquire no new karma, but may have residual karma from the past to overcome.

Swami Kriyananda doesn’t ever talk about his own spiritual attainment or level of samadhi, though many people do wonder! The last few years he’s frequently commented that he is feeling deep bliss at all times. So that may be a hint.

At the moment, if you are in Pune, India, there is a great chance to meet Swami Kriyananda. He is living there in an apartment complex with other devotees until his house is built on land that Ananda Sangha has purchased. He is giving satsangs — to find out about these, check the Ananda India website. He is scheduled to come to the US around June or July. Keep in touch with the Ananda website.
