It is definitely possible to believe in God and evolution. They are not at all in conflict, but need to be understood in the right way.
Swami Kriyananda explains this beautifully in the book Out of the Labyrinth. If this issue is important to you, i would highly recommend that you read this book. The subtitle of the book is: For Those Who Want to Believe but Can’t.
One underlying idea is of a God that is not an old man, but a Consciousness, expressing qualities of Father and Mother, who works through his laws. For example, you don’t ask if it’s possible to believe in God and believe in gravity. God works through the intelligence of His creation.
