A Job Search, a Karmic Block, and a Call to Action

Question

I am well qualified yet i am not able to sustain myself financially. What is the reason? Is it some karmic drawback? I also live under constant fear, anxiety, and tension. How do I overcome them?

Answer

Dear Rajesh,

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear about your situation, but I’m sure it can be resolved. Since everything in our lives is affected by karma, it most likely is some karmic energy that is blocking you finding that job you need and are qualified for. But, karma can and will be overcome by our own efforts, and the guru’s grace.

Paramhansa Yogananda lived in America during the 1930’s depression, when there was a 25% unemployment rate. He said if he needed a job he would shake the heavens until he found one. I would also suggest that you do likewise.

If you’re “shaking the heavens” to find a job, you won’t have as much time to be fearful, anxious, and filled with tension. These feelings come more when you’re not acting. Just move forward with the confidence that the right job is out there waiting for you.

And for the immediate future, the right job might simply be something that you can do for now! It may not be the perfect job, or the one that you are really qualified for, but at least it will be something to keep your energy moving. It’s better to get your energy moving than to sit being worried about not having a job. Take anything you feel you can do for now, and then keep looking for something better.

I would say, make finding a job your top priority in life right now. This way you can put all your energy into doing this, and break through this karmic block of energy that is holding you back from your rightful livelihood and the job that you deserve as a child of God. As you do this, pray to Paramhansa Yogananda constantly during the day, and during meditation. And shun all thoughts of fear, anxiety, and tension, which will only sap your energy!

If you want to be magnetic and enthusiastic, then act magnetic and enthusiastic! All will be well through your own efforts coupled with the guru’s grace.

In divine friendship,
