About Barbara
My name is Barbara Bingham.
I first heard of Swami Kriyananda and Ananda Village in 1979 while attending college in Sacramento. However, it wasn’t until 1994 that I was able move to Ananda with my two daughters, Brook and Bailey. I can say that it marked the beginning of the most wonderful chapter of my life.
During my first 6 years at Ananda I worked as a home care physical therapist in the outlying area. It was demanding but fulfilling work. In 1999, I met and married my best friend Dave Bingham. He too, is an Ananda member.
Shortly after we were married I began working at the Ananda Expanding Light Guest Retreat, providing a wide range of services, including photography, graphic design, and classes on human anatomy for the Yoga Teacher Training Course. I had the pleasure of meeting many great souls coming to the Retreat.
My other great joy is spending time with my husband. We team up as a part of Ananda’s “digital ministry,” and have fun capturing Ananda life and events in photographs and video. Using modern technology allows us to share Ananda with the world almost instantly.
I also love spending time with my daughters. They grew up to become splendid people, and I am grateful to have them as friends. I have been so fortunate to be part of Ananda. I have been transformed by the teachings of Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda, and by my association with my gurubais.
In this blog, I hope to share with you the beauty of Ananda and its people through photography.
