About Dharmaraj

While I was at college in 1996, a friend introduced me to Autobiography of a Yogi. Some part of me knew that this was the path I had been seeking all my life. The rest of me wasn’t sure.

After completing degrees in computer science and mathematics, I went to MIT for a Master’s degree. I also worked as a researcher at AT&T Bell Labs, Xerox, National Semiconductor, and AOL. These experiences helped me to choose: I moved into the Ananda Palo Alto Community and began working at its Living Wisdom School, teaching math, science, and computers.

I spent 6 years there, during which time I met my wife, Dharmini. We first moved to Ananda Village, and after a year and half, to Ananda India. We lived and served at Ananda Gurgaon (outside of Delhi) for 3.5 years. While there we directed the Ananda Bangalore and Ananda Noida centers, making many new friends. I also taught corporate workshops, along with Nayaswami Haridas, as part of  Harmony at Work. These were based on Swami Kriyananda’s course, Success and Happiness through Yoga Principles

Living in India was the gift of a lifetime: we dearly miss our friends there. We returned to Ananda Village in 2010. About a year later Swami Kriyananda asked us to move to Los Angeles to help with Ananda’s work there. It has been a privilege and a blessing to serve at Ananda Los Angeles. We’re very grateful to be here!
