The Mahasamadhi program this year was held at a large, lovely community center within walking distance from the Ananda ashram in Gurgaon. Over 70 Americans and Europeans, along with many Indians, attended the event. A group of Ananda Village High School girls joined the pilgrimage as well. Swamiji gave classes on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings. The topic this year was The Essence of The Bhagavad Gita, the book recently completed by him, and published just in time for the Pilgrimage!

Here are a few of the testimonials from the Pilgrims:

“…Swamiji’s energy was very joyful and light… I realized that even though attaining Self-Realization and serving this work is a serious matter, there’s lots of joy about it!”

“… When I prayed in Master’s home for him to bless my family, my friends, my life, I had a strong realization of his answer: 'I already have.' Being on this Pilgrimage reminded me that his blessings are always with us, wherever we are.”

…The first copies of The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita, Explained by Paramhansa Yogananda came back from the printer a couple of hours ago. It was, as you can imagine, a moment of great satisfaction and joy for Swamiji (and for all of us). Swamiji leafed through the book and read a few passages, and in each case was very pleased with what he read: with how clear it was, and how practical. ...The book is beautiful, and feels much the same in ones hands as the hardcover Path does. Its been less than five months since Swamiji began writing the book. That he wrote the book in under two months, and edited it in three weeks, was a miracle."
