Fire Photos 2

Helicopter dropping water on the fire. At one time there were,
according
to the California Department of Forestry (CDF): 6 air tankers, 3
helicopters, 40 engines, 2 bulldozers, 4 water
tenders, 20 crews, and 400 firefighters. The response by CDF was
amazingly fast, and is largely responsible for preventing the fire
from spreading further onto Ananda property.

The old basketball court/skateboard park near the Ananda entryway
became a helicopter landing pad and refueling area. For a few hours,
the helicopters were continually picking up water out of the Ananda
ponds (in the orange bucket you can see in front of this helicopter),
and pouring the water on the fire.

Charred trees near The Expanding Light. The fire burnt all the
way up to the Expanding Light. Only one cabin was lost to the fire,
and many trees which will all grow back someday.
