In the Footsteps of the Masters
Pilgrimage to India
February 17 – March 15, 2008
Puri – Kolkata – Gurgaon – Delhi
Babaji’s Cave – Rishikesh

The benefit of pilgrimage to holy places lies not in their rich history, but in the fact that divine blessings can be experienced when visiting them.
Their very soil is impregnated with a higher consciousness.
– Swami Kriyananda |
Ananda Pilgrimage Is...
... Being in a place of high spiritual vibrations and learning how to open your heart to receive its blessings.
... Meditating in holy spots as a group. This not only magnifies their power, it gives us access to places not available to individual travelers.
...Having someone else take care of all the travel logistics, so that the pilgrim can concentrate on the most important thing: being a pilgrim.
...Meditating together every morning. Chanting and telling stories on the bus while traveling.
...Enjoying social interaction, but keeping the flavor of the pilgrimage inward—one of inner communion and meditation.
Highlights
- Gurgaon: 2 spiritual retreats with Swami Kriyananda and the worldwide Ananda family at Ananda India headquarters: Annual International Kriya Yoga Retreat, and the annual retreat in honor of Paramhansa Yogananda’s Mahasamadhi.
- Puri: Meditation at Sri Yukteswar’s seaside hermitage where his body is buried. Visits to the Jagannath Temple, relaxing at a beach resort, having a kirtan and the Ananda Festival of Light on the beach.
- Kolkata: Yogananda’s boyhood home with its attic meditation room where he “found God.” The same house has the bedroom where Babaji came to Yogananda and blessed him before his trip to America.
Sri Yukteswar’s Serampore hermitage and the Rai Ghat where Babaji came to him.
Sri Ramakrishna’s room at the Dakshineswar temple, and the image of Mother Kali, who appeared alive to Yogananda.
- Delhi: Temples near Delhi and an outdoor market.
- Babaji’s Cave: Located near the town of Ranikhet, with spectacular views of the High Himalayas. We will retrace Lahiri Mahasaya’s footsteps to the peaceful hillside and cave where Mahavatar Babaji is said to have first met him, initiating him into Kriya Yoga.
- Rishikesh: The town of yogis, ashrams, and saints in the Himalayan foothills. We’ll meditate by the Ganges; near Lahiri Mahasaya’s interned ashes in Hardwar; at Anandamoyee Ma’s ashram in Dehra Dun, in Sage Vashishta’s cave on the river, and spend time with modern day spiritual teachers.
- Agra: Optional day trip to the Taj Mahal.
