A Healing Prayer Newsletter Update
Thank
you all for the many responses that have come in from the Healing
Prayer Council regarding
the prayer experiment for a peaceful resolution in Iraq. Please
understand this is totally optional – it is not a “required” aspect
of being on the Healing Prayer Council.
In
my first letter, I didn’t specifically mention praying
for our troops in Iraq, because I was leaning over backwards
to explore the avenues of praying with no political agenda. However, an
important aspect of praying like this is to watch how the universe,
or Divine Mother, speaks back to you once you start praying.
The very first response back was from Tammy H, below.
So I saw that praying for our troops, and their safety, is
an important aspect in this prayer mission. So we can also
pray that the prayer process itself is guided by Divine grace!
I also received a prayer
request for Jeffery B. – son of Jack B., also a member
of the Healing Prayer Council. Jeffery is in the special
forces, and is going back for his third tour of duty in Iraq. He
will be going house to house trying to flush out terrorists. It
is very dangerous work, but he is very strong and dedicated. Jeffrey
says he is always dismayed by how the news about Iraq is portrayed
on TV. He says that Fox news is the closet to the truth. (I’ve
heard many other soldiers say the same thing.) He also told
his father that most of the time when soldiers receive a care package
with treats from home, they go out and find Iraqi children and
give it to them. If the soldiers find any hungry children, they
also share their rations with the children.
Also, Arthur F., grew
up at Ananda Village. His father, Jake, serves on the Healing
Prayer Council and lives here and Ananda Village. Arthur is stationed
60 miles north of Baghdad and has also been involved in many dangerous
missions. Sometimes he is flushing out terroists, or driving a
tank, etc.
Below is a letter I
received from Tammy H., a member of our Healing Prayer
Council who is now serving in Iraq.
Surround these ones
in Light and protection, and by extension, please pray for all
those souls serving in Iraq and who are tying to resolve the issues
there. I will send more aids to prayer soon.

Dear Mary,
I
just wanted to thank you for your Iraq prayer experiment. This
country needs a lot of prayer, and when I meditate here on
this soil, there is so much ancient spirituality. This part
of the world is known as the "Garden of Eden" and
also Ancient Babylon which is mentioned in the Bible, often.
Also the Tigris and Euphrates river run through the middle
of Iraq. I have seen both rivers.
Everyday
I pray for this country to get better. I ask that there be more
peace in the hearts of the insurgents. I ask God to bless the
innocent and keep them strong. They've had hard-lives, and we
as Americans don't ever see this struggle as much as this country,
and other third-world countries.
Thank
you again for your prayers and continued support. Every time
I go out on a mission, I always ask God for protection and
to keep me safe, and to keep positive despite my outer surroundings,
and military surroundings. The "Iraq news" is
portrayed on TV, but what’s not mentioned is the stresses
of the military life and the challenges we face on base. There
are so many outward and inward challenges, no words can
explain. I was fearful coming to this country and serving, but
I knew God asked me to do it, so that I may be an instrument
to help this country, even in little ways. I've met children,
women, and men, and all of them kind, but of course you
have the 10% of insurgents that are in this country as well.
I just do my best to keep faith. I've met genuine people out
here. The women give me hugs and kisses and the men offer the
chai tea and allow us to hang out with them in there homes, and
communicate through either a translator, or even just presence.
I
feel honored being here, truly. I don't know if I'd like to come
back here as a soldier, but maybe when there is more peace, to
come to the country as maybe a missionary. That would be nice!
So
thank you for your prayers, this part of the country needs it.
There is so much energy here. Deep-rooted in the soil, but I
think, if anything, we must transform the energy into love,
and not into anger and evilness, as it appears to be.
In
joy,
Tammy H
