A Healing Prayer Newsletter Update
This e-mail is more of a “prayer news flash” for those of you who may not be following the details in the news. You don’t need to follow the news if you don’t care to do so – you can simply see Iraq and the surrounding area in healing Light. See the Light guiding the country, strengthening the harmony and cooperation, and gradually evaporating the need and desire for violence against their own neighbors.
Again, a reminder that this prayer experiment is totally optional… We learn as we go. The basic premise is to try to support, through prayer, any likely avenue for peace. So one can prayer generally, or for specific aspects. Please note that I’m not a political analyst or anything remotely close. I am simply sharing my own process of how I attempt to pray about a world event. If this process helps you, too – I am very glad.
I found it interesting that the deadline for the Iraqi constitution had been pushed back one week. In voting for the extension to the deadline they took their first truly independent step as a new governing body, and it was in the name of trying to find some unity and consensus with each other. So, I took that little glimmer as a hopeful sign, and a reason to keep praying.
But if you want more details you can search “Iraqi Constitution” or read these articles: I found them after a quick search.
A general update from Fox News
Iraqi constitution should “serve everybody” – an article from The Globe and Mail
An interesting excerpt from the article:
“….Also Wednesday, deputy justice minister Awshoo Ibrahim escaped a second assassination attempt in two days when gunmen fired at his convoy, killing four of his bodyguards and wounding five, police said.
Speaking after a meeting with parliament speaker Hajim al-Hassani, Mr. Talabani said the country's stability cannot be achieved without consensus among Iraq's Shiites, Sunnis Arabs and Kurds. The constitution will be to serve everybody and not only one community of the Iraqi society,” Mr. Talabani said…”
Mary’s note
From the above excerpt one can see the need to send continued healing Light to protect and guide all those who are striving to build a new Iraq. And there is the need for the broader view. There is another aspect of “healing.” Many of the Sunni’s boycotted the elections last fall, but now Sunni religious leaders are encouraging their followers to vote this fall, in case they need to defeat the new constitution. But – ironically – at least they will be participating in the voting process of their fledgling country. (Right now some radical Sunni’s are even threatening barbers who trim beards, because that doesn’t fit their own religious style and view.) So, I see it as a step forward if they all go out to vote and try to defeat the new constitution. It shows a certain level of joining the process. It’s a start, anyway. Sometimes one must simply look for directional progress, and continue to build from there.
May all these souls be surrounded in Light.
God bless.
Joy to you,
Mary Kretzmann
