How
to Be a Channel for God's Light
A Letter
from Jyotish and Devi Novak, Ananda's Spiritual Directors, on the
war in Iraq
Dear Friends,
We want to offer
a simple thought about relating to the war in Iraq. It's very important
that we at Ananda stay in the light ourselves, and that we serve
as channels for love and harmony. The news media, with its tendency
to sensationalize, ends up producing fear and anxiety. Don't allow
yourself to get drawn into the darkness. Try this: spend at least
as much time praying for peace as you do tuning into the news.
In a talk that
Swami Kriyananda gave in 1991 at the beginning of the Gulf War,
he said, "The light that is now coming into the planet with
the start of Dwapara Yuga is being battled by darkness. This new
age is a time of heightened energy, which is our responsibility
to turn toward good. That awakening of Spirit is not going to happen
automatically. This is why we've been bornwe've been attracted
here at this time not only for ourselves, but also to help bring
God's light out into the world."
Many Ananda
Sangha members have been asking us for practical ways in which they
can actively become channels for God's light during the war. In
addition to our Thursday prayer vigils at Hansa Mandir, we will
begin having special prayers for peace on Saturdays starting in
April at Ananda's Meditation Retreat. These prayer sessions will
be open to all. Please check www.meditationretreat.org
for details.
The following
links offer different ways that you can actively become a channel
for God's light. We are being presented with a great spiritual opportunity
now to focus our energy on Paramhansa Yogananda's ray and to spread
it throughout the world.
In divine friendship,
Jyotish and Devi
