We may never have to face the darkness in the form of a man in a red suit, but we often face the darkness in other forms: for example disease, depression, despondency. Those are also forms of Satan (maya, or delusion).
The solution in every case is essentially the same. As Yogananda said, we can't beat the darkness out of the room with a stick, but when we turn on the light, the darkness vanishes as though it had never been.
