What is the Ideal Time To Meditate?

Question

Greetings from Wuhan. Which is better — Meditating according to a fixed routine — at fixed times every day? Or meditating randomly whenever we want?

—Liu Shen, China Mainland

Answer

Dear Liu Shen,

It is best to have a daily, regular schedule to meditate.

The yogis recommend meditating twice a day, when you get up in the morning and before going to bed at night. But you can adjust according to your schedule.

By meditation first thing in the morning, you are getting centered and peaceful, so you can be efficient, clear, and make wise decisions in all your activities.

Evening meditation helps you to get centered again, after you were engaged in outer activities and reconnect with your Self.

By having a daily practice of meditation, you create a good habit and meditation becomes a part of your daily life, like eating and sleeping.

Blessings,
