The secret of inner peace is accepting things as they are, and then, if necessary, acting calmly and cheerfully to improve them.

Accept others as they are. Accept life as it is. By learning acceptance, you will learn above all to accept yourself. With acceptance will come forgiveness, and a joyful sense of inner release.

To achieve self-acceptance, you must be clear in your true conscience. Such clarity comes only when we accept that our higher Self is our eternal reality.

******

To accept a negative image of oneself is not humility. Rather, it leads to self-absorption, which is the very opposite of humility.

******

We should accept our own nature, for the time being, as it is, but seek to harmonize it ever more perfectly with our higher realities.

******

Perfection can be achieved only by subsiding into the oneness of Spirit. What this means for each of us is utter acceptance that changelessness is our one abiding reality.

Whenever it is convenient, turn the palms of your hands upward. You’ll develop attitudes of relaxation and acceptance.

******

Accept adversity calmly: It is an intrinsic part of the cosmic drama. Without hardships, indeed, there would be no drama. But there is no adversity so great that it cannot, if accepted calmly, be turned to good advantage.

The sign of maturity is a willingness to adjust to realities broader than one’s own. It is how we react to disappointment that determines whether our development will be a shrinking towards bitterness and cynicism, or an expansion towards acceptance and wisdom.

The devotee who sincerely offers his life, with all its tests and fulfillments, up to God, finds that every test accepted with faith is followed by a marked increase of inner freedom.

******

Acceptance comes from knowing that reality lies within ourselves, and that all else is a dream. Acceptance of that one reality makes everything else acceptable. Instead of learning to come to grips with a thousand individual challenges, therefore, make the supreme effort to accept God unconditionally into your heart. Accept all that comes in life as coming from His hands. He will give you what is best for you, if you live for Him alone.

Your duty as a devotee is to accept whatever He sends you—and, for that matter, whatever He doesn’t send. God alone knows what past karma keeps you from perceiving Him right now. He may want you to finish up your karma in this life, before He gives you eternal bliss in Him.

******

Accept reality as it is, harmonize yourself with it, and the very universe will be your friend, your support.
