Sunday Satsang at Ananda is inspired by the meditation tradition of the East and the ancient teachings of mystical Christianity, with inspirational readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, group chanting and meditation.
Kalidas Hansen took his discipleship to Paramhansa Yogananda in 2005 and received Kriya Yoga initiation in 2006. He serves in various capacities throughout the Ananda community and is a popular Vedic Astrologer.
Kalidas specializes in a yogic approach to Vedic Astrology by correlating the planetary natures with the energy centers in the spiritual body, known by their Sanskrit name as Chakras. The basic premise of any session is based on one simple question: How can we find deep spiritual growth as well as true, lasting fulfillment in the life that has been given to us?
There are positive and negative potentials present in in any Vedic horoscope, but from a soul’s eye point of view, everything that happens in life is intended to assist us on our inner journey towards spiritual freedom. This means that both the ups and the downs have a profound purpose for us.
So rather than pointing out the strengths and making positive predictions or pointing out the weaknesses and making negative predictions, Kalidas meditates and prays with each horoscope and asks Spirit to guide the session in the direction that is best for each individual in their own unique quest for bliss and freedom.
Kalidas has trained with Drupada Macdonald, a long-time and well-respected astrologer from Ananda Village in Northern California. His practice of meditation and yoga has had a tremendous influence in his approach to Vedic astrology. He lives at Ananda Village in Northern California with his wife and five-year-old son.
