Endowment Giving

Endowment is described in the American Heritage Dictionary as “Funds or property donated to an institution, individual, or group as a source of income.” As a charitable gift, this means individual donors can make a gift to their favorite charities with the request that the principal remain intact and only the invested income from it be used to support the charity’s ongoing programs. And when we look at this for each individual, it means that you as a donor can remain an important part of Ananda’s future. A gift made to the Ananda Janaka Foundation Endowment fund today keeps on giving, because only the income – and not the principal supporting that income – is used.

Giving in Perpetuity

If what Ananda does is important to you now, it will be no less so in the future. Your gifts to the Endowment fund offer you the opportunity to ensure the future of our ministries and spiritual support to truth seeking souls throughout the world. The income that the endowment fund provides will protect these services from economic ups and downs and, in addition, help us to expand them as needed.

The most satisfying part of making a gift to the Endowment fund: Long after you are no longer physically present, you will still be part of Ananda’s mission. Through your endowment gifts, you will continue to touch people’s lives, and you will be sharing Paramhansa Yogananda’s mission with many truth-seeking souls for years to come.

Endowment Fund for Ananda

The Ananda Janaka Foundation established a $1 million Endowment Fund to support Ananda’s mission in April 2016. Donations may be made to this endowment at any time. Ananda Janaka will automatically direct a portion of all undirected estate gifts we receive to the building of this endowment. As it builds, this fund will begin to direct funds each year to various areas of Ananda. Below you will find some of the core areas that this endowment fund will support.

Ananda Sangha Worldwide ministries

These ministries include Kriya Yoga, the Ananda.org website, Online Classes and the Ananda Virtual Community, Healing Prayers, Meditation support for individuals and groups, Ananda Español, Treasures Along the Path, Radio Ananda, and more.

Crystal Clarity Publishers

Crystal Clarity publishes and promotes the writings of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda (both digital and in print) as well as those of other Ananda authors. In addition, Crystal Clarity publishes audio books, as well as all of Ananda’s music and chant recordings.

The Joyful Arts

The purpose of the Joyful Arts – including music, drama, painting, sculpture, and other expressions of the arts – is described in Swami Kriyananda’s book, Art as a Hidden Message, as “to reach beyond the passing trends in art and see whether, in an overview, there may not be found a guideline to life’s true purpose and meaning.” The purpose of the Joyful Arts is to provide us with a direct experience of upliftment of consciousness and expansion of awareness.

Education for Life

While many traditional forms of education address the spiritual needs of a child as an afterthought, if at all, at the Education for Life schools the spiritual needs of the child come first. Not surprisingly, we find that when children’s inner growth is nurtured, they thrive on all levels – emotionally, physically, and intellectually. The Education for Life philosophy, with its emphasis on the child’s spiritual development and the use of intuition and understanding of the energy fields of the brain and heart, has the potential to be the leading alternative education philosophy of the twenty-first century.

Ananda Communities

Paramhansa Yogananda talked with great enthusiasm about the ideal of “simple living and high thinking” – lived in intentional, spiritually-based communities where job, home and church could be all in one place. This, he said, would give people the support and the focus they need to deepen their spiritual lives. Six Ananda Communities have been established – five in the United States, and one in Europe. These Ananda Communities include churches and temples, community living, businesses and schools. They are based on Paramhansa Yogananda’s teachings and the Path of Kriya Yoga. They have been founded through the guidance and inspiration of Swami Kriyananda, a foremost, and direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda.

Ananda Communities are located in the following areas:

In California: Ananda Village (in Nevada County), Ananda Palo Alto, and Ananda Sacramento.
In Oregon: Ananda Portland
In Washington state: Ananda Seattle
In Europe: Ananda Europa (near Assisi, Italy)
