In the Spring of 2023, The Expanding Light Retreat completely replaced all outside patio furniture. The previous tables and chairs required a lot of maintenance to be kept functional, but had been very affected by weather conditions and deteriorated over time. Prior to replacing them, a number of items needed to be thrown away on a monthly basis.
The Ananda Janaka Foundation Grant helped to offset the purchase of new, highly durable outside furniture, which is made from recycled plastic but designed to look just like wood. This upgrade has greatly uplifted the patio environment for guests and village residents, and will last at The Expanding Light Retreat for decades to come.
