Punctuality
On-time attendance is required for live classes. Chronic tardiness will result in non-certification.
Absences
Absences from any live class on the schedule require notification through use of the online Attendance Log (google sheet). Students are responsible for material covered during absences, and may be given extra assignments to demonstrate their understanding of that material. Absences from mandatory live classes are excusable only for serious illness or family emergency. Any unexcused absence, or absence from your team teaching sessions for any reason, may delay certification. If class absences exceed these conditions, the student will not be certified until s/he completes those classes during a later offering of the course.
Reading Assignments
All assigned reading must be completed for certification. Each reading assignment needs to be completed by the end of each unit.
Assignments and Self-Quizzes
Students must satisfactorily complete all required course assignments by the end of each unit in which they are assigned, plus an in-class final quiz at the end of the course. “Satisfactorily” means on-time completion with answers that demonstrate a good understanding of the subject material.
Safety and Awareness in Personal Practice
Each student must exhibit a safe personal practice, showing appropriate consideration for her/his own body’s abilities, limitations, and conditions.
Attitude and Aptitude for Teaching
To graduate, students must demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to teach Ananda Yoga clearly, safely, and completely. The staff makes every effort to help students remedy shortcomings, but we may withhold certification from students who we feel have not demonstrated these attributes.
Personal Conduct
Students must follow the AYTTO Participation Guidelines and conduct themselves with maturity, take responsibility, cooperate, be open to correction, and show respect for others and for the Yoga tradition. To be certified, students must sign and return the Code of Ethics at the end of this course. Graduates must follow the Code of Ethics for Ananda Yoga teachers (see front section of AYTT manual).
Course Fees and Cancellation Policy
The course must be paid in full to reserve your space and prior to the course start date. If you cancel on or before January 8, your payment will be refunded, less a $150 processing fee. If you cancel January 8-30, 50% of your payment will be refunded, and the remainder will be forfeited. For cancellations after January 30, the full program cost will be forfeited.
Self-Representation after Certification
Graduates have a limited, non-exclusive right to state in their promotional materials that they are certified Ananda Yoga teachers. Without express permission, they may not say or imply in any way that they represent Ananda, Ananda Yoga, The Expanding Light, Ananda Sangha, or Ananda Church of Self-Realization. For details, see the AYTT manual (Section 5).
Use of Course Materials
All course materials are copyrighted by Ananda Church of Self-Realization and may not be reproduced or shared with anyone except as outlined in Section 5 of the manual. Any other use requires prior express written permission. Contact the Director of Ananda Yoga (530-478-7518) for assistance.
Continuing Education
Every yoga teacher should pursue continuing education after graduation. By signing this agreement, the student agrees to do so regularly and conscientiously, even though there are no specific continuing education requirements for maintaining Ananda Yoga Teacher certification.
Replacing a Lost Certificate
There is a small fee for replacing a certificate. Contact the Director of Ananda Yoga (530-478-7518) for help.
