Ananda is a global movement based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, who showed how everyone can realize God in their daily lives as a tangible, loving reality.

You can expand your sense of harmony, and gain an increased sense of God’s active presence in your life through ancient and effective techniques including meditation, Kriya Yoga, spiritually oriented Hatha Yoga, community, and divine friendship.

Ananda was founded in 1968 by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda, who passed away in 2013. Swami Kriyananda’s spiritual successor is Nayaswami Jyotish who, along with his wife Nayaswami Devi, serves as Ananda’s spiritual director. Learn more about Ananda.

Why Put God First?

If you’re a devotee, your priority is finding God, not the work you’re doing. Losing the thought of putting God first, and thinking in terms of other priorities, can easily be the first step away from attunement and the spiritual path.

How to Learn More About Ananda

Nayaswami Premdas

Question from Candie: I am interested in learning more about this faith. I used to have some links to free lessons, I have gained the link to the books, however I thought there used to be daily assignments to help you work toward initiation. Bless you for your time, and information. Candie

Being (Gay) at Ananda

Ananda Sangha Worldwide

Question from A.: I am a homosexual who is living in the deep waters between two communities. My Ethnic/Christian community reject gay people and the gay community I just can not connect with. What I do have is the love of Jesus Christ in my heart. I don’t go to church as often as I like too due to the fact they judge … Read More

The Power of Light

Recently, I watched a fascinating documentary film about the Chauvet cave in France, where the oldest known cave paintings have been found. The best scientific dating techniques we have in this modern age of energy estimate the paintings to be over 30,000 years old. The film shows the beautiful cave art in living color – vivid and rich, many with … Read More

The Fine Balance of Health and Lifestyle

Day 4 on the set

Today feels really good so far, and I’m getting more and more comfortable with the whole process. We started with shots at Lotus Lake, with the gorgeous natural morning light. It is a joy to see the directors work together, searching for “where the money is”, or the best shots for light and color. One of the scenes we shot … Read More

Day 3 on the set of Cities of Light

I’d like to introduce our director, Ted Nicolaou, who is an extraordinary gentleman and director. Ted has been working with us on this film for the past 2 years, and is an extraordinarily good fit. He describes himself as “a storyteller with an open mind”, and has a vibration about him that is quite contrary to what you think a … Read More
