Last week the initial concrete pour of the footings was completed. This is a big week to get ready for the concrete pour on Thursday, June 14th. After the footings were poured, the entire slab area was filled with 6″ of gravel, then black plastic vapor barrier placed on top and finally a web of steel reinforcing bar. All this in preparation for pouring concrete for the entire slab of 11,097 square feet.

Pouring the entire slab at one time is a bit of a challenge, but it is the best solution for the project. There will be no cold joints in the slab and it will be a monolithic element. The pour will begin at 3 a.m. (yes a.m.!) this Thursday, the 14th of June. The 70+ trucks of concrete with over 250 yards of ‘mud’ will be working all night to get concrete placed. It should all be in place by 9 a.m., then the finishing of the top surface will take another 3-4 hours. By early afternoon, all will be complete…. Jai Guru!
