New Year's Eve Fire Ceremony
Pre-recorded 2-hour ceremony to fit your time zone
Participate in Ananda’s uplifting New Year’s Ceremony with Nayaswami Krishna Das and Brahmachari Prashad. This includes purification practices, prayers for world peace, chanting, meditation, and a very special tradition: chanting the ancient Mahamrityunjaya mantra 108 times to bring in the new year. After each repetition of the mantra, we offer our past karma into God’s light—symbolized outwardly by offering rice into the sacred fire—to be burned up and purified. The ceremony concludes with the traditional, sustained ringing of a beautiful gong to bring in the New Year.

Meet Your Instructors
A dedicated meditator since 1974, Gyandev is known for his clarity of presentation, deep insights, high energy, kindness, and humor. He has been teaching meditation for more than 35 years to people from all walks of life.
Gyandev is a Certified Online Instructor, and director and a senior faculty member of the Ananda School of Yoga & Meditation in Northern California. He is also co-director of the Ananda Meditation Teacher Training programs. From his base at The Expanding Light Retreat, he also teaches across the U.S., and in India and Europe.
Gyandev is director of Ananda Yoga worldwide, a Kriyacharya (teacher of Kriya Yoga), co-founder of Yoga Alliance, and an E-RYT 500. He is the author of three books (including Spiritual Yoga: Awakening to Higher Awareness) and numerous audio and video products.
Nayaswami Diksha is a senior teacher in the Ananda School of Yoga & Meditation. She co-founded the Ananda Spiritual Counseling Training course, and co-directs the Ananda Meditation Teacher Training course. Both trainings are offered online.
Diksha has been meditating for more than 35 years, and training meditation and yoga teachers for more than 20 years. A powerful and spiritually dynamic woman of great warmth and humor, she is gifted in both intelligence and intuition. She has shared transformative spiritual teachings across the U.S., and in Canada, Europe, Israel, and India. She now teaches primarily online.
The Sanskrit word, diksha, means “giver of light”— an appropriate name, because Nayaswami Diksha has touched many hundreds of seekers as a teacher, teacher trainer, host of spiritual travels, expert on Ayurvedic wellbeing, and internationally known vegetarian chef and cookbook author.
For more than 30 years, Diksha has practiced Kriya Yoga meditation and lived a dedicated yogic lifestyle at Ananda Village. Her “Nayaswami” title reflects that her life path is one of “positive” renunciation: not self-deprivation or isolation, but a joyful expansion of consciousness and sympathy to embrace all people as her own.
