According to the UN, EESC, and OECD, the long-term social and economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis will be profound. Compounding the global instability is the prediction of further difficulties this fall. Paramhansa Yogananda, who in the 1940s forecast this unprecedented global event, urged the population to go back to the land. He said, “Take the best advice I can give you and you will be spared much grief.” In the EESC’s own words, “The recovery will only be successful if it is accompanied by the restructuring of our society.” One way that global societies will be protected from the coming emergency is if land-use laws become more accomodating and there are government incentives that help large portions of the population who want to transition from consumerism and capitalism back to land-based communities. There are solutions. Join this dialogue between the Ananda Assisi Community in Italy and Dr. Vandana Shiva from the Navdanya International Community.
