Ananda Music Oral History: Brahmachari Prashad
May 28, 2023
🔷 The ANANDA MUSIC ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS capture the essence of living and sharing the music of Ananda. Listen to longtime devotee musicians share their stories and remembrances of spiritual lessons learned from working on the songs and chants of Swami Kriyananda and Paramhansa Yogananda.
Brahmachari Prashad found Ananda Palo Alto in 2012 and moved to Ananda Village in 2013, joining the monastery there. Although a lifelong musician, Prashad experienced true devotion for the first time through Ananda’s chants and music. He sings in the Ananda choir and small ensembles and is a multi-instrumentalist, playing harmonium, guitar, and harp. In sharing Ananda Music, he has witnessed the great joy and upliftment it has brought to many who have opened their ears and hearts to it.
“Meditating on the music as a devotional practice in an attempt to tap into the divine, the superconscious inspiration from which Swamiji drew from the original melody.”
“These are superconscious melodies and if you listen with that intention you can get inspiration.”
