The ANANDA MUSIC ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS capture the essence of living and sharing the music of Ananda. Listen to longtime devotee musicians share their stories and remembrances of spiritual lessons learned from working on the songs and chants of Swami Kriyananda and Paramhansa Yogananda.

Keshava Betts was born at Ananda Village in Nevada City, CA. He was exposed to Swami Kriyananda’s music from birth, sang in the choir and played the cello. He currently is a minister for Ananda Church of Self Realization in Palo Alto, CA. In his talk, he tells of moments experiencing God Consciousness at an early age through playing and singing the music of Swami Kriyananda.

“We are performing “Life is a Quest for Joy,” Swamiji’s in the audience, we start playing. Suddenly out of the ensemble of strings swells that majestic melody from the cello “Life is a Quest for Joy” and then echoing in response as if the divine is calling back, we hear the violin and I lose myself in the experience of the music. Tears began running down my face. I could feel this joy! This bliss, this understanding that this is what life is. I was 12 years old.”

This recording is from a Palo Alto Ananda Church of Self-Realization Sunday service on Sept 18, 2022, titled: “Intuition is Simple: The Intellect is Complex” and is used with permission from Ananda Church of Self Realization in Palo Alto, CA.
