Ananda Music Oral History: Satyana Hall

Satyana Hall
August 24, 2023

The ANANDA MUSIC ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS capture the essence of living and sharing the music of Ananda. Listen to longtime devotee musicians share their stories and remembrances of spiritual lessons learned from working on the songs and chants of Swami Kriyananda and Paramhansa Yogananda.

Satyana Hall found Ananda in Palo Alto in 1997, and for four years attended events here and there. She became a member in 2001, and joined the choir in 2004. Anaya and Chaitanya invited her to join a small group a year later or so, and then in 2010 she was invited to move to LA to sing for Swamiji's events while he lived there. "The LA Joy Singers" (Bhagavati, Ramesha, Peter and Satyana) were formed there and sang a lot in the 3 years they were there. In 2014, Satyana moved to Ananda Village, and has continued singing with the small group and the choir.

"Swami Kriyanda told us (The quartet singing in Los Angeles) to take the music out beyond Ananda and sing to anyone who will listen." “Saying YES to Life doesn’t mean waiting for an invitation. I had to follow my inner guidance and be proactive, and then, life said “Yes” back to me.”
