Sleep Is Calling

August 1, 2021

A song from Swami Kriyananda performed by Vinaya and Aaryan at Ananda Assisi

Really this lullaby is not about the subconscious state of sleep...It's about that glorious freedom that comes to the spiritual seeker as his longing for God becomes stronger.
It is also about the liberty that comes when a great soul leaves this earth plane: death itself then becomes the joyful event it was meant to be.

This song was sung by various musicians at Ananda during the days following Swami Kriyananda's passing.

Lyrics by Swami Kriyananda

Sleep is calling, fly up high,
Be a cloud moving in the sky!
Sail above the winding rivers.
Ask the stars, “What am I?”
Lullaby, Lullaby, Lullaby.

Sleep is calling, soar in light.
Be a star shining through the night.
Tell all creatures that you love them.
Tell the shadows: “Be bright!”
Lullaby, Lullaby, Lullaby.

Vola nella libertà,
una nube nell’alto ciel!
Vola sulle lunghe onde,
Chiediti, “Io chi son?”
Ninnananna, Ninnananna, Ninnanan.

Vola nella libertà,
Astro chiaro nel mondo blu.
Senti’il cielo infinito
Che ti chiama all’amor.
Ninnananna, Ninnananna, Ninnanan.
