Yogananda & Kriyananda: The Philosophy Behind Ananda's Music

May 20, 2021

The ANANDA MUSIC ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS capture the essence of living and sharing the music of Ananda. Listen to longtime devotee musicians share their stories and remembrances of spiritual lessons learned from working on the songs and chants of Swami Kriyananda and Paramhansa Yogananda.

Swami Kriyananda composed over 400 pieces of music, which he described as coming through him from a Higher Source, rather than created by him. He felt that music could help to uplift consciousness, in both the listener and the performer. Swami Kriyananda (1926-2013) was a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda (1893-1952). Ananda Church of Self Realization was founded in 1969 in Nevada City, CA based on Paramhansa Yogananda’s vision of spiritual communities. It has since expanded into a global spiritual movement based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda.
