The ANANDA MUSIC ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS capture the essence of living and sharing the music of Ananda. Listen to longtime devotee musicians share their stories and remembrances of spiritual lessons learned from working on the songs and chants of Swami Kriyananda and Paramhansa Yogananda.

Bhagavati (Sharon Brooks) Nani received her Master of Music in flute performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. For many years, she performed and recorded with orchestras and chamber ensembles in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began focusing on music as a ministry after finding Ananda in 1998. In 2002, Bhagavati moved to Ananda Assisi (Italy), where she toured for two years as part of the Ananda Singers. Later, she and her husband, Ramesha—who are both Ananda ministers—led the meditation group in Lugano (Switzerland) and then moved to the United States in 2006 to participate more fully in the music ministry at Ananda Village. Bhagavati and Ramesha lived for three years in Los Angeles, where they headed up the Ananda LA music ministry, returning to Ananda Village in 2013 to serve as co-directors of Ananda Music Worldwide.

“Learning to sing or play in tune is like attuning to the guru, it helps you practice that. Having a choir develops the very skills you need for living in community.” “At Ananda what we are doing is giving a very particular vibration that is attuned to the ray of the divine that came through Yogananda, through Swami, to us.”
