“In everything I do, my enthusiasam soars to embrace infinity!”

(Affirmations for Self-Healing by Swami Kriyananda)

Dear Friend,

Swami Kriyananda wrote: “Enthusiasm is the spirit of joy channeled through the power of the will. If we want to know joy, we must live always in the full expectation of it.”

The word “enthusiasm” comes from the Greek word “entheos” which means “God within.” To make any endeavor successful, we need to approach it with inner enthusiasm. Some of the happiest, most interesting people are those who have found the secret of maintaining their enthusiasm by expressing that God within.

When you endeavor to do everything with dynamic enthusiasm, joy imbues every aspect of life. The joy becomes tangible. Not the wild, scattered energy of the zealot, but the quiet inner joy and peace of souls on their journey to eternal bliss.

Prayer

“O Perfect Bliss! Guide me, that I express Thee through my every feeling. May my enthusiasm be a channel for Thy joy.”

In divine friendship,

Nayaswami Pushpa for Thank you, God!

The Secret of Tithing

Nayaswami Parvati shares about the inspiration behind the ancient practice of tithing and an example how it helped her in her life.  From a Sunday Service at Ananda Village, January 13th, 2019.

Enthusiasm

Personal Reflection by Nayaswami Pushpa

These are certain things for which I have great enthusiasm:

Learning and sharing the yogic teachings, inspiring others, expressing beauty, and knowing Truth. When enthusiastic I feel more energetic and magnetic and my energy rises. I feel joy bubbling up and my heart opens. I feel gratitude and that anything is possible.

Nearly ten years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and over the past number of years I have felt that the doors of opportunity for sharing the yogic teachings—the teachings that have changed my life—have been gradually closing as Parkinson’s symptoms have progressed. After the pandemic hit, Ananda Village temporarily closed The Expanding Light Retreat and my teaching opportunities vanished. Everything changed. I withdrew and the flame of my enthusiasm for life flickered and diminished. I was not alone: many of my friends were struggling too.

I knew I had to do something. And so I asked myself: What can I do that will inspire me and others during these challenging times? The thought arose that I could create a line of greeting cards that were simple and beautiful and that shared the inspiration of the teachings. I also began to wax enthusiastic about certain craft ideas, and started making mugs with photos of Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda, and others, and featuring inspiring quotes. They were very well received and my creative juices were flowing again.

And then a door opened unexpectedly. Ananda’s fundraising department was advertising for temporary help with mailings. I responded immediately. It sounded fun! To my surprise that temporary position transmuted into this far-reaching work with Thank you, God. I feel great enthusiasm for this opportunity to share with others in a very meaningful way. I feel increased energy, joy, and gratitude as I reach out with experiences and words from these life-changing teachings. And I am grateful to all the donors whose generosity makes Yogananda’s and Kriyananda’s work available to the world. And once again, my enthusiasm knows no bounds.

My wife and I were almost $13,000 in debt and made a resolution that we would have it paid off in two years. We didn’t have any extra money, and had no idea how we were going to get it. We needed a plan, and this is what we did. Read More
