The outgoing year 2020 has offered many challenges, as well as opportunities for growth. There has been much upheaval in the business world, yet a new lifestyle is emerging in which many people can now work from home, saving on commute times and subsequently freeing up time for family life, spiritual pursuits, and personal development.

Those, of course, are positive impacts. But others have lost their businesses or they are at least in the throes of great revision. Healing prayer and affirmations can go a great way in weathering financial storms and help to offset any adverse effects in our lives. No matter what is going on, the basic laws of spiritual magnetism are still at work. Stay positive in your outlook and affirm success. This will help you to be nimble on your feet and able to manifest and recognize a new direction that is helpful to you. God’s love is eternal and always operational.

…Every day in the New Year must become an altar for the God of new living, new achievements in wisdom, and new joy. Every day in the New Year must bring hope and cheer to yourself and all humanity…
…Bury the bad habit of failure in the tomb of the old year and reincarnate your life energy in the vitality of the New Year. May the New Year spread the example and message of your renewed life and renewed power unto all Creation… Paramhansa Yogananda

These words were written in 1937, well into the Depression.  People needed to dig deep for positive energy. The full text can be found here: New Year Message for 1937.

A new year is a fresh start…especially if we take action to create a new beginning. Paramhansa Yogananda recommended affirming the following daily for general healing, It’s a perfect New Year resolution to affirm this every day for 2021. Positive words create positive magnetism.

Healing prayer affirmation by Paramhansa Yogananda

Focus deeply at the spiritual eye, and repeat three times:

“I will with my own will, which flows from the divine will, to be healthy to be well, to be prosperous and spiritual, to be well, to be well.”

Thank you for your healing prayers on behalf of others. As we send positive energy to individuals in need, we become a beacon light that blesses our own life circumstances and, indeed, the whole world.

Share your thoughts and inspirations for the New Year below in the comment field. I will see it right away, and it will bless others as well.

“Lord, Give us thyself that we may give Thee to all.”  Paramhansa Yogananda

Happy and Blessed New Year to All,

We Demand as Thy Children – from Whispers from Eternity by Paramhansa Yogananda

Thou art our Father. We are made in Thine image. We are Thy children. We neither ask nor pray as beggars but demand of Thee, as Thy children, the gifts of wisdom, salvation, health, happiness, and eternal joy. Whether naughty or good, we are still Thy children, all of us. Help us to perceive and understand, inwardly, Thy will for us. Teach us the independent use of our human will (since Thou gavest it to us to use freely), attuned to Thy wisdom‐guided will.

Update on January 1, 2021

A friend just posted this wonderful quote of Paramhansa Yogananda:

“Opportunities in life come by creation, not by chance. They are created by you, either now or at some time in the recent or distant past. Since you have earned them, use them to the best advantage. You can make your life much more worthwhile, now and in the future, if you focus your attention on your immediate needs and use all your abilities and available information to fulfill them. You must develop all the powers that God gave you, the unlimited powers that come from the innermost forces of your being.”

  1. Thank you Mary for sharing all this inspiration for the New Year! I am also inspired to share and radiate kindness, without judgment. So many are going through so much, but if we can use that affirmation that everyone is doing the best that they can, we can depersonalize any “wrongs” toward us, even simple ones from strangers. Be a beacon of divine love, hope, and kindness in your interactions with others in person, and online. May we seek to deepen our connection to Divine Mother through our personal sadhana and remembrance during our days (and nights!)! Happy New Year great souls!

    1. Thank you for your thoughts Tracy. It is indeed so important now, as ever, to radiate kindness. Many people feel isolated, discouraged, or frustrated these days; a kind word or act can make all of the difference for them. I just added one more quote from Master to the post, ending with, “You must develop all the powers that God gave you, the unlimited powers that come from the innermost forces of your being.”

  2. Hi, I appreciate this message and especially the reminder of Paramahansa’s wording for this prayerful intention. I was also wondering if you received the request for prayer for my heart procedure which I sent a week or so ago? I never heard back and have a feeling you may not have gotten it. It was sent as a response to the December healing prayer list.

    In Light and Life,

    1. Oh yes – we did get the request. I copy and paste requests into my working list. I must have been interrupted before writing back to you. I do apologize., and I hope you are doing well. Please send me an email if you need a prayer renewal

  3. i enjoy the silence when i meditate… i iamgine pramahansa yoganda in my spiritual eye…. and simulatenoulsy chant om as recited by guru dev…with every incoming and out going breath… before that a silent prayer to allm masters to join me in my meditation and imagine all of them sittting with me … a strongvisualzaation is neeed… after meitating for 15 minutees i pray the positive energy which is created during the mediation is send to the universe to whomever wants to take it and get benefitted… i personally have a globe of earth in front of me and place my hands as close as possibel to the globe ..we can feel a strong vibraions emitting from the palm going out an hitting the globe of earth… for 5 minutes… also then i send the same positive energy to the persons whom i need to pray in my momthly list.. this o it almost daily… i spent around total time 30 -40 minutes from the beginning… this i om sound is God first step when he created the world …so it is very close to the unmanifested and stillness which god prevailed before he decided to create the universe ..listening to the om sounded recited by masters during meditation gives a big punch to our positve aura….and this is the only way i reciprocate with what sri yuktheswar ji mentioned long as we breath the free air. we are obliged to serve or do seva..
frankly i do not expect any reward yes if i need something for myself i ask straight not because it is my right .expecting god to give me just because i meditate and pray for others….. both are independent ways .. and i pray daily…if my prayres are not answered the way i want it.. i accept it ..even if i have to go through hard ship in the process.. mentally talking to god …daily or chanting om during free time other than during meditaaiton also add to the positive aura… it is habit which all of us will have to inculcuate in our daily life by waaatching less of tv and social media

    1. Thank you, Ramesh, for sharing your thoughts on AUM and stillness, and your process of sending prayers to individuals and to the world. You are quite right that it is a beautiful way to be of true service.

  4. Dear Mary,
Thank you once again for a positive suggestion for the New Year. If we follow Master, surely the coming year
will be a positive experience. After last year the only way is UP.

    Blessings, Gloria
