Answer

Dear Simmi,

I’m sorry to hear about your back. Your first step should be to see a chiropractor or physiotherapist who can discover what is causing the problem, and what can be done to remedy the condition. Meanwhile, however, you might need to sit against a wall (or the back of a chair) in order to receive the support you need for your meditation practice. If even that is painful, then you will likely have to lie down for meditation; that position is not ideal in general, but in your case it might be necessary until a solution for your back problem can be found (or at least, until the pain can be reduced to the point where it does not bother you in meditation).

Blessings,
