Answer

Dear Friend, Paramhansa Yogananda in his now famous story, Autobiography of a Yogi, wrote (paraphrased): “Divine vision is center everywhere, circumference nowhere.”

God is the life, vitality, feeling, and intelligence immanent in all creation. God will come to any devotee in whatever form that devotee holds dear, whether Zeus or Buddha. The world teachers aver, as did Jesus, that “in my Father’s house are many mansions.”

The names of the deities may indeed be man-made or imagined. But any sincere prayer addressed to an unseen Deity may yet evoke an answer. Thus it is not wholly necessary for us to know whether Zeus exists or not.

A study of religion will show literally thousands of names for God and for higher beings. But the greatest teaching is that there is One God, Creator and Sustainer of all life. As Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, “to those who worship the gods, they go to the gods. To those who worship Me, they come to Me.”

God has no name; no form; all names and all forms. Seek the Lord in whatever form or name you hold dear, but know always, this name or form is but a doorway to the Infinite Lord!
