Sitting in Padmasana (Lotus Pose)


How can I sit in Padmasana for continously 4 to 5 hours in meditation?

To a large extent this would depend on your age and the shape your body is in!

Sitting in Padmasana (lotus pose) has its benefits but ultimately the real goal is to go into deep meditation regardless of one’s seated pose.

If you are serious about sitting in Padmasana for extended periods of time it would be good to work more with the yoga postures which will be helpful in allowing you to sit longer. Swami Kriyananda’s book, Ananda Yoga for Higher Awareness, is an excellent resource for the yoga asanas.

But always keep in mind that the goal before you is to go deep within, into Satchidananam; ever-existing, ever-conscious, ever-new bliss.
