What is the difference between Prana and Jyoti?

Question

Prana being the lifeforce which travels on the breath, and jyoti being the divine source of light or inner flame, what is the difference between them?

—Evangeline Houlihan, United States

Answer

Dear Evangeline,
Essentially, both prana (energy) and jyoti (inner light) are different aspects of cosmic consciousness which are manifest in creation. They are facets of the same essence.

Jyoti is experienced as seeing, and then, gradually merging into the spiritual eye. Prana is experienced as feeling the flow of the divine energy within ourselves and then identifying more and more with the deeper reality that we are that energy.

As we merge into deeper states of consciousness these distinctions fade; all that remains is oneness (samadhi).

Blessings on your journey.
