Is it alright if I do my daily meditation with open eyes while fixing the gaze at a certain point on the wall, assuming focusing at the third eye? I find it difficult to focus at the kutastha or third eye with closed eyes. My gaze always shifts from focus with closed eyes.

Meditating upon the image of the spiritual eye is very helpful for a number of reasons.
This is the image that can actually be seen when we become still and relaxed and focused. It is not an experience unique to this path. It can be seen by anyone who has a deep, inward practice.
By meditating on this image, one becomes familiar with it, is influenced by its qualities, and even takes on those qualities, i.e. the qualities and vibrations of the light. This is a distinct difference from meditating on a point on the wall.
You might try simply looking at this magnetic image for a while with open eyes so you can visualize it more easily when you close your eyes.
To stay focused takes practice. The habit of mind for most people is one of relative restlessness. The eyes, even when closed, move around as a reflection of this restlessness, and that causes the mind to circulate and wander. It can be a vicious circle. Developing concentration breaks this cycle. It is worth the time it takes to develop it. It will benefit every aspect of your life.
Meditating with the eyes partially open can be very helpful if one can keep the gaze upwards. If it is too distracting, better to keep them closed with elevated gaze.
If we understand that the upward gaze supports superconscious awareness, we are more likely to be willing to work to achieve this over time.
