A Blessing from the Astral World

Question

A month before I was to get engaged, on a date my father had decided himself, he suddenly fell ill and slipped into a coma. He remained in a coma for a month and passed away on the same day he had decided for me to get engaged. I remember he had assured me that he had the blessings of our guru in his heart while he was in the ICU. Strangely, my sister-in-law who my father loved deeply, saw him in her dream while he was in coma. He assured her that he is in a better place. What does this mean?

Answer

Dear Sargam,

So sorry to hear of your loss. It does seem that many blessings have come with your father’s passing. How beautiful that he arranged your future before his passing. Also, the timing of that passing has a date which now holds both happy celebration and inward solemnness for you. In addition, this seems like a special blessing of a dream from his soul and from his new place of existence. What a wonderful reassurance that must be for the family!

Paramhansa Yogananda teaches that nightly dreams are of two kinds. Most dreams are subconsciously produced and come out of our memories. This common sort of dream is not all that important to remember or to try to receive guidance from.  When we have superconscious dreams, it is a great blessing and a good idea to pay attention. There may be guidance or reassurance in the messages from superconscious dreams.

The best way to find out if there is guidance or a message being offered through the dream is to pray deeply to your Guru at the beginning of your meditations. Ask if there is some special message for you to receive from the dream. Wait for his answer to come at the close of your meditation or later. If no specific answer comes, then know that the dream simply was a loving blessing for the family. Cherish it in you heart and know that your father is in great Joy, Light, freedom and Love in the astral world.

Many Blessings,
Nayaswami Hassi
