Breath while Meditating

Question

Hello, I like to focus on my inner body while meditating, instead of my breath. Should I instead focus on my breath because it is more productive to do so? Thank you.

Answer

If you are referring to the inner self or spine, then focusing on your breath will quiet all distractions for you to experience that inner Self. The breath is key to meditating productively. When the breath is regular and calm then the body and mind are brought into a focused state that allows us to be absorbed in that Inner Light. If you haven’t already read the book Meditation for Starters by J. Donald Walters, it is a wonderful book with more on meditation. Many Blessings on your efforts.
