Coincidences During Meditation

Question

I have observed that when I do intense meditation (chanting Gods name ) it starts raining in my vicinity. This happens too many times to be dismissed as coincidence. Eg yesterday I did mediation it rained heavily where is monsoon season is over in mumbai. Is this spiritual ? If so then what indication.

Answer

Dear Niraj,

Our experiences have the potential to teach us if we seek deeply for meaning and answers. The place to look for the meaning of this co-occurrence of rain and the depth of your meditation is within. Mentally offer up your experience and your question about this to God at the spiritual eye, the seat of superconscious awareness at the point between the eyebrows. Our superconscious is that level of consciousness that directly tunes into God’s presence. A good time to do this is at the end of your meditation when you are feeling most inward and quiet. Then be open for guidance. The answer may come as a feeling, a visual picture or possibly words. Guidance from the Divine comes with a sense of peace, calmness and expanded awareness. The answer that comes in this expanded awareness may yield rich insight for your spiritual life. If what you receive is confusing or disharmonious or does not have an uplifted quality then it is possible the thoughts that came were from your subconscious mind rather than superconsciousness. In this case you can ask again until there is a sense of harmony and peace associated with the answer.

Yogananda loved the chant ‘Door of My Heart’ that he translated from the Bengali. There is a line, ‘Night and day, night and day, I look for Thee night and day’. The devotee is always looking expectantly for God’s presence. I thought you might enjoy hearing this chant so I have included a link here to our founder Swami Kriyananda, who was a direct disciple of Yogananda, singing this chant.
