How Can I See Mahavatar Babaji?

Question

I got diksha (initiation) from three gurus: Vazhga Valamudan (Vetharthri Maharisi), Isha Yoga (Jakki Vasudevar), and I forgot the third guru’s name. I worship saint Ragavendrar. Rarely I practice yoga and meditation. Recently I developed the wish to see Guru Babaji in reality, or at least in my dream, or while practicing meditation. I am very eager to see him, and for that experience I would give up anything. How could I make this happen? Please suggest me.

Answer

Dear Nandhini,
In the Autobiography of a Yogi we read: “Great prophets like Christ and Krishna come to earth for a specific and spectacular purpose; they depart as soon as it is accomplished. Other avatars, like Babaji, undertake work which is concerned more with the slow evolutionary progress of man during the centuries than with any one outstanding event of history. Such masters always veil themselves from the gross public gaze, and have the power to become invisible at will.”

So Babaji is very much hiding from the public gaze. In other words, it’s improbable for normal people to see him. He is only visible to a small band of highly developed disciples.

We also read in the same book: “Babaji can be seen or recognized by others only when he so desires. He is known to have appeared in many slightly different forms to various devotees–sometimes without beard and moustache, and sometimes with them.”

When will he desire to be seen and recognized by you? The answer might be: when you too have become highly advanced. So my best advice for you would be to start meditation. Practice every day. Go as deep as you can. This is the “price” you have to pay to make it happen. Then pray to him strongly, and you might have a darshan.

However, he himself might tell you: “Why try to see my body? I am not this body. I am infinite Spirit. Meet me there.” To his sister for example he explained how little the body means to him: “‘What is the difference if I wear a visible or invisible wave on the ocean of my Spirit?”

There is, however, a way to get his blessed darshan for us all: on a inner vibrational level. Here is the sacred promise: “Whenever anyone utters with reverence the name of Babaji, that devotee attracts an instant spiritual blessing.”

So meditate, pray, and then, in silence, with reverence and love, repeat the name “Babaji.” His blessings will be with you, in an “instant”.

All the best, jayadev
