How to Be Successful

Question

Is there any remedy to be successful?

—Edwin, Nigeria

Answer

Dear Edwin,

Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda (his direct disciple) wrote and spoke extensively on how to be successful. An important point is that to be successful we must first not ignore, or try to wish away, or be passive around a challenge but accept what we have been given. It is exactly what we need to take our next spiritual step. Consider it the next project assigned to you by God. Then actively draw on God’s energy and channel it into solution consciousness; there IS a solution and the Divine can provide the answer but to hear it we must first ask and then tune in. Do you meditate? Often we can draw answers when our mind becomes quiet and we can listen. You can learn a simple meditation technique at https://www.ananda.org/meditation/meditation-mini-course/

To be successful we also need to put out positive concentrated energy. Ask yourself, ‘What step can I take right now to be successful in this area of my life?’ When we get our energy flowing and we start to take positive steps toward success we will magnetically draw guidance that helps direct our steps. Churn the ether with your positive expectation and active output of positive energy and tune in for guidance. Don’t let doubts or fears scatter your energy or your concentration.

Remember, success for your spiritual growth, may or may not reflect outer ‘material’ success. The key is learning to use positive attitude and positive energy drawing on God’s unlimited power, using your own will united with the Divine will, directing it toward the ‘project’. Understanding this principle is a far more valuable gift than any material gain. Once you understand and use this principle you can apply it to all challenges in your life. Then you have invited God to be a part of your life, to be your partner in all endeavors.

This blog on success written by Swami Kriyananda gives lots of additional information on this topic. I encourage you to take a look. https://www.ananda.org/blog/success-yogananda-meditation/

Many blessings,
