My Wife Died. Is There A Way to Travel Back in Time to Save Her?

Question

Sir, I have read about time travel through yoga. I lost my wife, who is very innocent, in an accident on Jan 2019. Is there any way to pass a message to the past by a yogi, to save the girl? Please help. Regards, Kalaignanam

Answer

Dear Kalaignanam:

I am very sorry for your loss.

There is, I am sorry to say, no way for any yogi to go back in time to change the sad event. Yogananda writes that the past is unalterable. Only the future can (and should) be molded.

But there are things you can do. For example, there is a way to contact her soul. Souls don’t die, they just pass from one “room” of creation to another.  She is in other words, quite alive, well, and safe but is living on another plane now where she normally is out of reach. But as I said, there are subtle ways to contact her. Here are some techniques Yogananda taught:

By deep, incessant meditation try to get in touch with your dear dead ones. Only meditation and months, and sometimes years, of patience can bring them to you…

Every night with closed eyes, concentrate at the Christ Center [point between the eyebrown] or the astral broadcasting microphone of the spiritual eye, and broadcast your good will to your departed ones by mentally saying: ‘Resurrect, and be quickened in God.’ They will get your message. Then sit in silence and try to feel their love and when you feel exhilarated, know that they have answered you.

Feeling contact in conscious state. If day and night you miss a dear friend, then you will have a sort of longing, a soothing presence around your heart. This will indicate to you that this friendly soul is trying to get in touch with you through your feeling but he cannot materialize himself because of your constant mental restlessness.

Dream contact in subconscious state. If you concentrate upon the feeling that your friend is present, doing this for several minutes just before falling asleep, then that friend will appear to you in a dream.

Conscious contact in the superconscious state. If you carry the feeling of the presence of your departed friend and then try to concentrate with closed eyes upon the spot between the eyebrows and visualize him, he will appear to you after some time. It may take months, or even years but if you are patient and keep on every increasing the depth of the astral call of meditation, you will succeed.

Another thing you can do is pray for her, sending her your loving heart vibrations. On a deep level, she will receive them and it would help her.

Here is a final thought: love is a magnet which draws souls together, again and again. So if there was true love between you and her, it is just a matter of time: you will be reunited again. The best thing you can do for her for now is to evolve yourself spiritually. By doing so the persons close to you (from heart to heart) will receive an automatic blessing. It is as if you were filling yourself with light while everyone close to you will receive it too.

Yogananda lost his mother and was deeply distraught. But it helped him find the Divine Mother. May you too find the divine solace.
