I feel that I am sometimes able to understand what’s going on in other people’s mind. I don’t understand that thoughts are coming from whose mind in the group present. This is involuntary. What should I do about it? How do I let it go
—Shaili, India
Dear Shaili,
What you are describing may be a power you may have brought into this lifetime from other lifetimes. You didn’t mention if you are a regular meditator. Often those who meditate find they are becoming much more intuitive or perhaps even telepathic. It is definitely not helpful to your spiritual life deliberately to seek out these kinds of powers or “siddhis,” but if they come to you involuntarily, then it is best to pray to God (and Guruss, if you have one) to guide you in how best to work with a talent like this. Needless to say, it is never beneficial to you or to other people to misuse intuition or telepathic powers for your own gain or to show off in public. If you really feel guided that you should let it go, then pray for that to happen—unless and if you begin to feel that God and Gurus have given you a power or talent, which you might be able to use to help others. It is possible that this might be true, so it might be wise to be open to such a gift.
