Understanding the ‘Why’ of Physical Death

Question

My dad passed away this summer due to a car accident. He was a successful businessman in the community but also struggled with the connection he felt with spirit. My grandmother passed away 2 years ago and my dad always had visions of her. We learned from his best friend that he confided in that he actually heard my grandmother's voice to the point that in his last month it said, "It’s time." He was very stressed the last month before he died, not sleeping and loosing a lot of his clients.

How do you make sense of it all? We suspect that he fell asleep at the wheel. He hit a semi-truck. The witness said his car went out of control, then hit. My mom feels a lot of guilt because he took her car that day since she had taken the other car to go to church. My mom's car is not meant to go on the highway. We are having a hard time understanding and letting go of this trauma. When we showed up at hospital, he had severe life-threatening injuries. He was hooked up to a machine . He died within 3 hours of the accident.

Answer

Dear Melanie,

It is very difficult for us to understand what appears to be the senseless loss of a loved one. The “why” behind such a tragedy is almost impossible to comprehend for those that have such a loss in their lives. I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Belief in the purpose of all things that come to us even the tragic ones, having the faith in the goodness of life, and believing in the Divine Hand behind all things is what is called for now! Suffering always will turn us inward to God to ask that “why” question. We may have no other choice because no real answers seem to suffice in these times.

Remember, conditions are always neutral. They appear to us as happy or sad, good or bad, all according to our state of mind. At this time, do try to stay positive and uplifted with affirmations and self-offering. Feeling anger or guilt are normal but useless. After meditation, talk to God in the language of your heart about your loss and ask Him for help, guidance, and blessings in understanding about what has happened.

When the soul leaves the body, it goes to the astral world (or heaven), the subtle sphere of God’s creation, a universe of light and vibrations of life energy. At the physical death, the soul, clothed in an astral body of light, continues his spiritual evolution in the greater freedom of that spiritual realm.

Try to send your father thoughts of love and goodwill now. Instead of weeping and feeling a sense of loss, always send him your love. By doing this, you can actually help the progress of his soul and he will also send you his love that you can feel in your heart. This is the best way to heal the pain and sorrow.

Nothing is lost in God. No one is lost in time or eternity for we are ever in God. God never forgets us and that is the only reality.

Many blessings during this time of grief to you and your family.
